The previous month we had one more news for Project for the Web. In addition to the functionality of advanced task dependencies, you can now manage your resource's efforts with the new Attributions display mode!
With this new functionality, the project manager will be able to assign the tasks to members of your team and verify the total hours required in the project for completion of the tasks. In this way, the project manager will be able to analyze the daily or weekly allocation of its resources.
How to access?
After creating a new project and assigning the tasks to the team members, click on the three points, "..." -> Assignments.

- Unlike Grid display mode, columns are not configurable. The only visible columns are: Attributed to, Task Name, Start date and end of assignment.
- Supports two methods for grouping: Group by Resource and Group by Task.
- Two views to update the necessary efforts: Weekly and Daily.

In addition, the project manager will view the start and end date of the tasks, time required to perform the tasks, or check the amount of hours on a specific date. For this you will need to click on the go to date option.

We can group the visualization of the information in two ways: by task or by resources.
In the example below, the information is being displayed grouped by tasks.

Although it is an apparently simple feature, this visualization allows the project manager to have a better visualization of resource allocation information in their respective activities.
How to update the task effort assigned to resources
By default, when resources are assigned to a task on the schedule, their effort is distributed linearly to each resource, based on the working hours of this resource and the scheduling mode of the project.
- A project manager can use the resource allocation grid to refine the effort estimates of each resource assigned to one or several tasks at different time scales. This feature helps project managers to produce more accurate estimates by better planning the effort for each task.
- Display the effort distribution of a resource between tasks and timeline (grouped by resource)
- Updating the necessary efforts for a task (grouped by task)

Resource Calendars
The ability to edit for a specific day is governed by the working days of the resource as reflected in your calendar. If a cell is disabled for a given resource, this feature will not have working days during that period.
The effort of a resource can extend beyond the current dates of beginning and end of the assigned task. If the effort is updated to be after the most recent end date of a task or the earliest start date of a task, the end date or start date of the task will be changed as appropriate. However, if it is updated before the start date of a task linked to a predecessor, the update will fail because the assignment will trigger the task to start before its predecessor is completed and this behavior is not supported at the moment.
Remember
Changes in the resource assignment grid are automatically reflected in all associated display modes, including the Graphic, Timeline, Frame and Grid display modes. If multiple users are reviewing the project at the same time, all changes made by a user will be reflected in the grid. On the other hand, all alsterations made in the resource assignment grid will be shown to all other users who are displaying the project in the same session.
