Using Project and Roadmap Applications

Recently Microsoft announced the possibility of viewing in Guides Do Project for the Web and Roadmap for Microsoft Teams. With this, Microsoft Teams users can rely on some basic functions of Project for the Web and Roadmap within the application. In this way, project management, tracking and collaboration can be carried out in a single place, simplifying and integrating navigation for the project team.

In this article, we will demonstrate how project team members can enable, create projects and Roadmaps using applications Project and Roadmap through Microsoft Teams.

Including Project and Roadmap guide

The first step is to select the channel and include the guides to access the applications. For this, just select your team channel and then click to add a tab as shown below:

Then a screen will be displayed with the latest applications that were used:

If Project is not visible, simply search the application list or type Project and automatically Teams will display the applications according to the entered name.

Clicking to create new Project just type the project name and then click the button Save.

With this, the Project was created and is ready for the user to include the tasks.

The user can include the information, assign the activities and add columns according to your need:

In the Project tab, in addition to displaying tasks, it allows the user to select the view by Table, which allows agile management of projects, using the principles of Kanban:

With this agile method you can add Buckets to control project activities, thus improving your viewing.

Finally, we have a view of the timeline that allows Zoom to be applied to activities. In this example we include the predecessor column to demonstrate some of the columns that can be included in the project.

There is also the possibility of exporting data to Excel, and the file will be exported to the download folder.

The user can click on project details, and thus display the basic project information as: start date, completion date, duration and percentage completed.

We emphasize that the Project app integrates with Project for the Web, allowing the addition of projects that were created in Project for the Web but it does not support projects created in Project Online.

Viewing the Roadmap application in Microsoft Teams

In addition to projects, another feature that was implemented in Microsoft Teams is the possibility of viewing the Application Roadmap, for the project team to have visibility of all project work. Through the Roadmap, it is possible to integrate Project Online and Project for the Web and follow the status in a simple and unified way.

The process to include Roadmap guide is similar to Project tab, therefore just type it in the research as explained in the previous topic.

The board and team can view the project summary, highlighting milestones or main project activities and thus have greater visibility of the activities to be performed.

A Project tab and Roadmaps guide can be followed, in read-only mode, by all users of Office 365 provided they are shared with them. The permission to create and edit projects and Roadmaps within their teams (channels) will depend on appropriate licenses from Project for the Web.

Conclusion

Application availability Project for the Web and Roadmap within the Microsoft Teams it can be considered an interesting upgrade of the product, as they can easily and intuitively meet the basic needs of users.

The functions of Project for the Web cannot be compared with the more complete tool features such as the Project Professional or Project Online, because they have basic resources for project management.
