The new Planner app on Teams (announced at the end of 2023) is available today as part of Microsoft Teams Public Preview!!!
As a quick review, the New Planner is a simple, collaborative and flexible work management solution that is AI-assisted and integrated with Microsoft 365 products.
In short, Microsoft is bringing together the simplicity of To Do, the collaboration of Planner, the power of Project for the Web and the intelligence of Microsoft Copilot in a simple, familiar and unified experience, starting with Microsoft Teams.

The “Tasks by Planner and To Do” application on Microsoft Teams becomes the new Microsoft Planner in Microsoft Teams Public Preview. Below are some of the highlights that come with this preview.
- Simplified and faster: First, you will notice a simpler and faster user experience with simplified navigation composed of three main sections: My Day, My Tasks and My Plans.

- All your chores in one place: Display mode My Tasks offers a single location to view and manage your tasks with intuitive filters and search resources, including the source of the task, so you can quickly get to what matters most to you. This includes basic plan tasks, premium plans, Loop tasks, Teams meeting annotations tasks, and flagged emails.

- All your lists, plans and projects: The new view My Plans brings what was before Outlook Task Lists, Planner Plans and Project for the Web Projects into a simplified collection of plans, making it much easier to find the most relevant and recent plans.

- Fix your favorite plans: The new Planner allows you to fix your most used plans in the left navigation panel, just select the plan and fix it!

- Get more from premium plans: Create a plan and start using one of the various models available. You can create basic plans for your personal use (by sharing later) or directly start a premium plan with many excellent features, including Sprint planning, target viewing, people viewing, time line viewing with dependencies, custom fields and more.

With the premium plan, you can also experience the new Copilot, which can help split tasks into subtasks, identify the work needed to achieve project goals and answer basic questions about the overall status of the project.

- Target Management and Control: Create a framework to manage and track Project Goals.

- Sprint Planning: Follow progress with a sprint planning framework using built-in agile tools and balance the workload of teamwork using People's vision.

How to access the public view of New Planner?
If the administrator has enabled the "targeted version" option on the M365 administration portal and your Microsoft 365 signature includes Planner, you will be ready to check out the new Planner. For those interested in experimenting with premium features in the new Planner app, including Copilot in Planner view, you can start your free trial or request a premium license.
For existing Project for the Web users with a Project license, you already have access to the premium features of the new Planner corresponding to your license.
